Sarah and An were champs when it came to the punches that come with shooting in Yosemite. 2 days before their October session was a big storm that temporarily closed Glacier Point Road due to snow, and thus access to their original chosen location of Taft Point. I spent the day before scouting the Yosemite Valley floor, which is filled with an abundance of meadows, vistas, waterfalls, and sunshine-y magic, even without the cliff-top draw of Taft Point. We began at a meadow trail in Yosemite, keeping LNT (Leave No Trace) principles in mind; Yosemite’s ecosystem is sensitive and unfettered foot traffic does major damage to these gorgeous meadows. Then the three of us did a 4+ mile round-trip hike to a secluded view of Tunnel View to catch the last of sunset and blue hour. The session was perfecty representative of who Sarah and An are – thrilling, full of adventure, and a journey. 

A Note on Glacier Point Road Closures 2021-2023

Taft Point is a classic Yosemite stunner, but its access road will be closed until 2023. While it’s the iconic wedding and elopement photography spot in Yosemite, this will be a great opportunity to explore the many incredible lesser-known spots in Yosemite and Eastern Sierra. My best advice for this location and Glacier Point is that they’re not the only beautiful places in Yosemite or the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
